At Vista Magnet Middle School, all our Vipers are International Baccalaureate (IB) students with an IB Schedule. Our Viper faculty encompass various departments that represent different IB course disciplines.

The typical IB Viper course schedule is as follows:

Core Classes

  • Language & Literature/Individuals & Societies (English Language Arts/Social Studies)
  • Math
  • Science & Design

Creative Core Classes

  • One Semester IB Art
  • One Semester IB Language Acquisition in Spanish
  • Physical Education
  • Other elective courses available (based on need/recommendation): Math 180, AVID, Encuentros/Hermanitas, ALL (ELD), Study Skills, Lit Lab, etc.

As part of our magnet IB STEM identity, at VMMS we have a Village Model (Gold, Maroon, Silver Villages). This is where the same approximately 90 students share the same core teachers (LLIS, Math, Science/Design). Village teams can collaborate to provide our Vipers with a comprehensive system of support.
