Thank you for your interest in Vista Magnet Middle School. 

In order to attend any VUSD Magnet school, all students must submit an online application. All VUSD Magnet Schools abide by the same VUSD Magnet School Policies and Procedures. The Application and Admissions procedures are overseen by the VUSD Director of Student Services in order to maintain fairness and integrity of the process for all students. The Admissions window is open during specific weeks in January through February each year for the upcoming school year.

What do I do with the Application?

Please fill out the Application online. If you need assistance, you can come to the VMMS Front Office between 8:00 am and 3:30 pm on any school day during the magnet application window.

Do I have to write an essay or submit anything else with my Application?

No, we do not require additional items with your application. No VUSD Magnet School is allowed to admit students based on any factors outside of the formal application. Students who are admitted to VMMS will only need to follow the following once they are notified of admission:

How are student applications selected, and how will we be notified?

VUSD uses a lottery process that selects among students who have turned in a complete and on-time application. The lottery will be held soon after the magnet application window closes, and families will be notified in the weeks following the lottery. Please be patient as the notification process may take some time, and know that we will reach out to all families to inform everyone if they are accepted or not. Once you are notified of your acceptance, all new students must turn in a signed Magnet Participation & Agreement form for VMMS.
